2022 General Election: What’s the use of the GCC – PM

FIJIFIRST party leader Voreqe Bainimarama told a crowd in Navua that many in the district did not vote for him in 2018 but he urged them to ask The People’s Alliance leader Sitiveni Rabuka about his intention to bring back the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC).

He also repeated this statement when he spoke in Qauia Village, Lami, on Saturday.

Mr Bainimarama called on residents to question Mr Rabuka when he campaigned in the area on the purpose of reviving the GCC.

“I want you to know that Rabuka and his party are going to bring back the GCC, can anyone of you here, maybe former SODELPA now thinking of jumping to PAP, stand and tell me what’s the use of the GCC today,” he asked the crowd.

Mr Bainimarama claimed that children and people today only wanted education and employment and not the GCC.

He said Mr Rabuka was only trying to appeal to the community, especially indigenous Fijians, by campaigning that he would bring back the GCC.

He said FijiFirst was forward-looking and inclusive of all races in its policies and services to the public. The FijiFirst leader held two rallies in Lami and one in Navua in a span of three days.
