The final 2022 General Election results are out but the verdict on who will form the next government is still unknown.
Yesterday it appeared nothing had been firmed up despite meetings apparently taking place all day between key members of the “kingmaker” Social Democratic Liberal Party, and the two parties that are tied at 26 seats each – FijiFirst and the People’s Alliance-National Federation coalition.
SODELPA leader Viliame Gavoka said they have appointed a six-man negotiating team and will see what both parties have to offer, but he also said they had “non-negotiables”.
PA leader Sitiveni Rabuka and NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad said at a news conference that they would try to meet with Mr Gavoka either last night or today to discuss the way forward.
Attempts to obtain comment from FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum via mobile phone have been unsuccessful.
