The FijiFirst party held a rally at Syria Park in Nausori yesterday where free party merchandises such T-shirts, banners, wrist bands, lunch and refreshment were handed to those in attendance.

Speaking at the event, party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum urged supporters to vote for party leader Voreqe Bainimarama on December 14.

Tents were packed with people from Tailevu, Rewa and Naitasiri.

Family members of the party’s candidates were also at the event to show their support.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum talked about the developments the FijiFirst government has carried out around the country.

“I wish to talk about a few things. There’s the road. We got the footpaths now in Northern Tailevu and there are other parts in Fiji that got tarseal roads, electricity and water,” he said.

“All of these things come about because the government spends money.

“When we are building roads in Northern Tailevu, when we put in the footpaths, when we put electricity, we don’t go to rural villages or the communities to tell them ‘it’s going to cost us millions of dollars, give us the money then we will do it’.

“We as a government have a responsibility to do it. What the government in the past has not done before, we are doing it now.”
