TURUKAWA Taukei, who voted during pre-poll voting at his village community hall in Nawaqadamu in the interior of Nadi, says for him voting in the general election invokes the same feeling one has during their birthdays.
The 68-year-old said he was happy knowing he had voted.
“The excitement level that one has when their birthday approaches, I have the same feeling towards the general election because I really look forward to it,” he said.
The grandfather of six also urged youths to vote.
Maikeli Kalawa, a first-time voter from the same village, said he was confident the candidate he voted for would bring a positive change for tertiary students like him. “Every individual vote counts and I am very happy to have voted today.
“I believe the candidate and the party that I want to be elected in government will create more jobs for Fijians.”
