Do not let your vote go to waste, vote for a party that you know will cross the 5 per cent threshold.

The People’s Alliance (PA) candidate for the 2022 polls, Filimoni Vosarogo said this to attendees at a campaign in Veikoba, Valelevu, on Wednesday evening.

A lawyer by profession, Mr Vosarogo reminded supporters of the importance of their vote and why they should come out in numbers on December 14.

He said now was the time to think seriously of which party to cast their vote for and to make their votes count.

“It will be useless if you stand for hours in line on Election Day but when results come out you find that the party you voted for did not cross the 5 per cent threshold.”

He said he was confident Mr Rabuka would become prime minister after December 14.

Mr Vosarogo is originally from Loa Village in Bua, Cakaudrove, with maternal links to Sinuvaca Village in Koro, Lomaiviti.

He completed his primary education in five schools beginning in Levuka, Naroi in Moala, Kama in Tukavesi, Vuya District School in Nabouwalu, Bua and then Holy Family Primary School in Labasa.

After completing his primary education he went on to Queen Victoria School for secondary school.

Mr Vosarogo enrolled at the University of the South Pacific (USP) to study Law.

He was admitted to the Bar as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of Fiji in 1999 and joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) in Suva in the same year as a senior legal officer.

After spending four years in the DPP’s office, Mr Vosarogo went on to become the manager legal services at the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and from there he went on to work at the Legal Aid Commission Fiji where he was the director for a period of three years, beginning in 2006.

It was after that he decided to open a law firm of his own and in 2010 he opened Mamlakah Lawyers in Suva, a business he renamed Vosarogo Lawyers in 2019.

Mr Vosarogo was admitted to the Tuvalu High Court in 2017 and Vanuatu Supreme Court in 2020 and has been counsel to a number of cases of interest not only in Fiji but throughout the Pacific.

He represented former Vanuatu prime minister Charlot Salwai in 2020 on the charges of corruption and bribery and won them their case.

Locally, Mr Vosarogo has defended cases such as the Cyprus Brother’s case; No Jab No Job policy case, the Methodist pastor’s curfew case and even successfully defended his current party leader Sitiveni Rabuka just before the 2018 General Election.

He is married with seven children.

“I am not in this election to be in the Opposition party, I am in this race because I am going to be part of government.

“The leadership of this Government will end along with everything they have done for the past 16 years.”
