Poor medical services, lack of access to markets for produce, and lack of access to quality education are issues highlighted by people in the Tailevu North area, says The People’s Alliance general secretary Sakiasi Ditoka.

“I’m campaigning in the Tailevu North area, well the concerns are more about the development and access to services,” he said.

“Those are the major ones, especially medical services and the lack of it. Most, that’s what they say.

“And the lack of access to markets for the goods that they produce, that they plant, as far as agriculture is concerned, and access to quality education.

“Those are some of the things that I’ve heard. I mean, those are the general things in my campaign visits.”

When asked how the People’s Alliance-National Federation Party partnership would take Fiji forward, he said the coalition would become a model that could be adopted for the future.

“I believe, looking at our history, I think it’s a very important partnership that we should use as a model for those who are going to be coming after us.

“This is because, as I mentioned, looking at our history, and the history of turbulence that’s happened because of the inter-communal suspicions and sometimes animosities and sometimes it’s broken out into actual physical conflict.

“These are some things that can be addressed by coming together and working together in partnership and getting all the best minds and all the quality that is already available here in Fiji together in one room, mapping the way forward.

“I think that it is a wonderful model to be showing to all the children of Fiji.”
