The Candidates List Ball Draw was held at the Suva Civic Centre Auditorium this morning to assign a three digit number to all the 343 candidates who will be contesting the 2022 General Election.

Fiji’s Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the Electoral Commission had on July 15 last year conducted a ball draw to determine the first three digit number that would appear on the ballot paper for the General Election.

Mr Saneem said following the ball draw today, the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) will publish the national candidates list for the 2022 General Election.

He said the candidate numbers would be published in all newspapers with the party or independent candidate symbol, names and images of the candidates together with their assigned number.

“The FEO will also publish and distribute the Voter Instruction Booklet, which will have the national candidates list in it,” Mr Saneem said.

He said the Candidates List Ball Draw is taking place two days ahead of schedule.

A representative from each party together with the Multinational Observer Group had the chance to witness all the balls and barrel and a police officer was present beside the barrel during the entire duration of the draw.
