The 2022 General Election is not only about choosing leaders, but a way of life and democracy over dictatorship.
National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad said this at a media conference in Suva yesterday where he launched the party’s vision document.
“So I say to the people of Fiji – get out and vote,” he said.
“I say again – in this election you are not just choosing your leaders.
“You are choosing your way of life. You are choosing democracy over dictatorship.
“Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum have ruled us like kings for 15 years.
“It is time to send them home.
“This is your chance to change your government and change your future.”
Prof Prasad said it was obvious the FijiFirst government was unable to “solve our problems”.
“They have run out of ideas. So instead they attack bhajaniyas. They attack talatalas.
They attack Mr Rabuka. They attack me.
“So what will be different about the leadership of a PA-NFP Government? The answer is: “Everything.”
“For the last 16 years, Frank and Aiyaz have only allowed themselves to speak. They make rules to suit themselves. .They even wrote a constitution to suit themselves.
“What has been the result? “Deep national debt and deepening poverty. No water in the taps. No jobs for our graduates. Sky-rocketing cost of living.
Depletion of workers’ rights.
A sugar industry struggling to survive. The public health and medical services delivery and care are in a state of decay with even grass growing on the walls of CWM Hospital.
“Under which government has this happened? As their billboard slogans state, “Aur Kohi Nahi Khali FijiFirst” – No one else but FijiFirst.”
Prof Prasad said a PA-NFP government “will do it differently”.
“We will bring in the talents and experience of all Fiji’s people.
“Does NFP have all the answers? No, we do not. No government, a person, or a leader has all the answers.
“The FijiFirst party only pretends that it does.
“Meaningful solutions are found through listening to our people. We will listen and learn.
“And we will share the leadership space with the people of Fiji as we work together to solve our nation’s problems.”
