IRINIETA John Mackinlay believes the 2019 Vodafone Millennium Sinu Festival provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for young women who want to find a platform to advocate on issues affecting the nation.
The 21-year-old is representing Lei Entertainers at this year’s festival.
Ms Mackinlay, who is originally from Melbourne, Australia with maternal links to Taulevu Village in Naitasiri, is one of the six young women vying for the Miss Nasinu title at this week’s 2019 Vodafone Millennium Sinu Festival.
“I was a make-up artist in last year’s festival and that is where I was inspired to take part in this year’s festival as a queen contestant,” she said.
Her advice to young women is that if one wants to achieve great things in life, they must obey their parents.
“The only advice I have for young girls, if you want to go far in life just obey your parents, it’s that simple.
“There is no love in this world like the love our parents give to us and this is something we as young people should understand.”
If there is someone Ms Mackinlay would want to meet in life, it is renowned American rapper, songwriter and television personality, Cardi B.
“Cardi B is genuine and despite the criticisms thrown at her, she still shines,” she said.
