SCORING my first Rugby World Cup try and against Fiji is something very special for me.

Those were the words of Wallabies wing Marika Koroibete after he helped his side stop the Flying Fijians 39-21 in their opening match of the 2019 RWC at the Sapporo Dome yesterday.

The former Fiji Bati star said it was quite emotional at the start when the Fijian national anthem was played.

“Yes, it was pretty hard and very emotional when they sang the national anthem as I’ve represented both countries (Fiji Bati and Wallabies),” Koroibete said.

“It was pretty tough out there as the boys were giving us a bit of chit chat on the field.

“But to come out with the win was something special in my first game in the RWC against Fiji,” the former Nasinu Secondary School student said.

Koroibete was joined by fellow Fijians’ Isi Naisarani and vice-captain Samu Kerevi in the Wallabies team.

Koroibete and Kerevi scored tries for Australia.
