Listen to this article:

THE Flying Fijians lead the Wallabies 14-12 at the half time of their first pool of the 2019 Rugby World Cup at the Sapporo Dome in Japan.

Fiji’s flyhalf Ben Volavola registered the island nation’s points with a penalty kick in less than five minutes of play.

And after seven minutes of play, Fiji’s openside flanker Peceli Yato scored the first try in Flying Fijian style. The conversion was unsuccessful.

Australia’s openside flanker Michael Hooper responded with a try after 17 minutes of play, and was successfully converted by Christian Lealifano.

Two consecutive successful penalties by Volavola saw Fiji edged further to 14-7.

A try by Australia’s rightwing Reece Hodge after 35 minutes of play narrowed the gap to 14-12.
