2019 Pacific Games: Fiji badminton to take on top seeds today

IT will be a baptism of fire for the Fiji badminton team when they take on top seeds Tahiti and New Caledonia in their matches on day two of the mixed  event competition at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

Section manager and coach for the team, Brent James said they played Tonga in the morning yesterday and won 5-0 and played Northern Marianas and also won their match 5-0.

“Today is our real test and our real chance to see where we at as far as our medal chances cause we play second seeds Tahiti this morning who beat us at the recent Ocean Championships and then we play New Caledonia who are the number one seeds,” James said.

Meanwhile Fiji, Tahiti and New Caledonia opened with a dominant performance on day one of the mixed team event in Badminton.
