DESPITE injuring herself last week Rebecca Johns is satisfied with her performance in the women’s 64kg category in the 2019 IWF Junior World Championships in Suva.

The Vunibau, Serua lass had achieved two good lifts but unfortunately, she failed to lift her 68kg weight in the snatch category.

In the clean and jerk category, she had a shaky start resulting in a no lift in her 70kg but managed to come through in her second attempt and finally lifted her 80kg which was her best.

“I am excited, emotional and also I’ve learned a lot from these past few days,” she said.

“I was nervous at first going up to the stage and looking at the crowd it just pressured me but as my coach said I am there to compete and improve on my lift and all I need is to focus and lift those weights.

“I am grateful to my coaches and my family for trusting and believing in me that I will do my best which I did.

“I am glad that I could lift those weights even though the others were lifting more than me I am glad that I did my best.”

The Gospel High School student was in tears and she hopes that whatever she had learned there will help build up her confidence as she prepares for the Pacific Games in July.
