2019 IDC: Day one happenings at Prince Charles Park

FROM goals to red cards to brawls in the beer parlour!

Day one at the 2019 Courts Inter District Championship at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi had a bit of everything.

The day started with a heavy downpour and the first two teams in the Premier Division took a while before settling themselves.

Sanaila Waqabicakau and Avinesh Swammy’s goals secured three points for Ba against Tavua.

In the second match of the day, Nasinu created the first upset of the tournament downing Rewa 2-1.

Joseph Mishra and Luke Savu scored for Nasinu.

The third match between Labasa and Lautoka lived up to expectations.

Labasa came out firing and was rewarded with a goal to Siotame Kubu early in the first spell.

Lautoka applied immense pressure and got the equaliser late in the match through Benjamin Totori.

Lautoka’s Samuela Drudru received a red card for a second bookable offence.

The day finished with home side Nadi defeating Suva 2-1.

Nadi started on a high as Rusiate Matererega scored in the 19th minute. His goal was cancelled out by Christopher Wasasala in the 17th minute.

Christopher Kumar got the second goal for Nadi in the 57th minute.

After the first day, Ba leads Group A with six points while Lautoka and Labasa have a point each.

Tavua is yet to register a point.

In Group B, Nasinu and Nadi have three points each while Rewa and Suva are yet to get a point.

In matches tomorrow, Labasa battles Tavua at 2pm, Suva takes on Nasinu at 4pm, Nadi battles Rewa at 6pm while Lautoka and Ba take the field at 8pm in the feature match of day two.

Off the field, there was a lot of action in the beer parlour.

Security had to escort a few fans out of the premises as they had a few too many beers and started a match of their own which was not permitted by organisers.
