2019/2020 National Budget: Fiji looks to outperform developed trading partners
7 June, 2019, 9:25 pm
FIJI has been able to withstand the decreasing global growth, which has impacted more developed nations, says Fiji’s Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
While delivering the 2019/2020 National Budget address this evening, he said Fiji has set itself among competitive markets that have contributed to its growth over the last six years.
“Given with these projections, we have positioned the Fijian economy to more than add to our record-breaking stretch of economic success,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
“We are looking to outperform our more developed trading partners. If our past performance is of any indication, this Government is more than capable of doing exactly that.
“Mr Speaker, it is this Government that has brought the Fijian economy out of the global financial crisis of 2008. In the midst of economic chaos, we kept our cool and did what needed to be done.”
