TOURISM Fiji’s national budget allocation in 2019-2020 is $40.24 million, a reduction of $5.3m from the $45.5m given to the sector last financial year.

While delivering the 2019-2020 National Budget in Parliament last night, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the reduction was designed to ensure increased efficiency in the national tourism office.

“The operating cost towards Tourism Fiji has been decreased to help them sharpen their pencil,” he said.

“But even in this period of fiscal consultation, the marketing grant towards Tourism Fiji will maintain its full strength of $29.7 million.”
