DEFENDING champion Rewa will face Labasa in the Vodafone Fiji FACT final after defeating Lautoka 1-0 in the semi-final at Churchill Park this afternoon.
Striker Setareki Hughes rifled in a 35m shot from the sideline inside Lautoka’s 20m line to beat goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara, scoring a spectacular goal for the Delta Tigers.
Lautoka tried its best to equalise but the brick wall defence of the Rewa players made things difficult for strikers Benjamin Totori and Mohammed Shazil.
Young goalkeeper Manasa Waqavou was in top form and saved some powerful shots fired by his opposition to help his team earn a ticket to the final.
Rewa coach Marika Rodu said beating Lautoka on their home turf showed the characters of his troop.
He also attributed the victory to the teamwork and dedication endured by his boys.
Rodu said the challenge was to work on their weakness and counter the high-flying Labasa team in the final.
The final will be held at Ratu Cakobau Park on Sunday.
