2018 OFC Women’s Nations Cup: Fiji beats PNG 5-1, through to finals

FIJI has created history after the Vodafone Fiji women’s football team reached their first OFC Women’s Nations Cup final after a 5-1 win over Papua New Guinea today.

The Fijian side led against Papua New Guinea 2-1 at half-time in the semi-final of the OFC Nations Cup in New Caledonia.

Fiji had to come from behind after conceding in the 11th minute.

Trina Davis and Luisa Tamanitoakula scored for Fiji for the half-time lead.

Fiji’s Cema Nasau missed a penalty in the 35th minute of the match.

Fiji has never before qualified to the final of the tournament.

The winner of the tournament qualifies for the 2020 Olympic Games and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
