PEOPLE need to know that the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) is not in the business of impressing people if it wins the 2018 general elections.

Speaking to supporters at Nadawa in Nasinu on Thursday night, candidate Jope Koroisavou said they would run Government on sound economic leadership.

“We will not have that kind of leadership where we will try to impress people because that kind of system will destroy people too because we need to teach them to be independent,” Mr Koroisavou said.

“We need to be wise because this is the kind of leadership that will help this nation. Sometimes we will not be able to give you what you want, not because we don’t want to do it, the reason is we need to look at the priorities,” he added.

Freebies, Mr Koroisavou said was an initiative used in an attempt to make people happy but at the same time make them unproductive.

“Your tax is the reason why Government functions so we need a leader who will put your money into good use for your sake and your generation, to avoid debt, we will focus more on what people need, what is essential,” he added.

The party will launch its manifesto tomorrow in Suva.
