THE first batch of ballot papers was transferred from Star Printery in Raiwai, Suva, to a secure storage facility at the Fiji Elections Office warehouse in Laucala this morning.
Fiji’s Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said there were 20,000 ballot papers packed in 14 boxes that were transferred.
“We are treating every ballot papers with utmost seriousness and you have noticed, we have just transported 20,000 ballot papers under heavy police guard,” he said.
It has been established that about 50 Police officers are deployed to the printing facility daily; and the storage facility is under 24-hour police guard.
