LOCATED in the interior of Naitasiri Province, Rewasau villagers have faced difficulties with transportation because of poor road conditions and no electricity supply since 2016.

However, they hope for change after voting during pre-poll at their village on Tuesday.

Village headman Veli Namuasau said their geographic location had been a drawback to the upgrading of the village.

“We’ve been seeking assistance for some time now regarding the upgrade of our road. “We have to hire transport or catch the bus which means we have to leave the village at 4am to catch the first bus that goes to the city,” Mr Namuasau said.

“After the wrath of Winston in 2016, we haven’t had access to electricity. “We’ve requested government assistance, but we are still waiting.

“We’ve managed to contribute as a village to build our village hall which is half done and we seek assistance.

“More than 100 children from Rewasau Village attend Nabuabuco District School and they face difficulties travelling to and from school during unfavorable weather, Mr Namuasau said.

“When there is heavy rain, our children can’t go to school because the crossing floods and if they are in school they can’t come home.”
