2018 General Election: FEO looks into Nacamaki voter concerns

SUPERVISOR of Elections Mohammed Saneem says a complaint by a person from Nacamaki Village on Koro Island in Lomaiviti that some voters were not able to cast their vote because their names were missing from the voter list, and that some registered voters who were bedridden or disabled were not allowed to vote from their respective homes were not raised in the right forum.
The matter was brought to their attention during a talkback show between FijiFirst leader Voreqe Bainimarama and Social Democratic Liberal Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka earlier today.
“We were watching the talkback show today where a turaga ni koro called the talkback show and was mentioning information about disabled voters, elderly voters as well as voters who were not able to vote at a polling station,” Mr Saneem said.
“While we found that the forum to complain was not correct, we at the FEO should have been contacted regarding this.
“Unfortunately, this call was made on air to a political debate, however, the FEO has taken note of the matter.”
