2018 General Election: FEO begins verifying postal vote transmission envelopes
7 November, 2018, 3:37 pm
THE Fijian Elections Office began the verification process of the postal vote transmission envelopes this afternoon.
Deputy Supervisor of Election Karyl Winter said this was a critical step before postal ballots for the 2018 General Election were counted.
She said as such, the FEO followed strict processes and procedures at every stage.
“The FEO values each and every vote so we have processes in place to ensure every vote counts,” Ms Winter said.
The deputy SOE explained the verification processes involved – from receiving the postal ballots, sorting, verification, stamping and signing approved envelopes, and storing the approved secret envelopes in the ballot box to await counting on election night.
