CANDIDATES who wish to stand for the 2018 General Election are to submit their nomination forms to the Fijian Elections Office at 59-63 High Street, Toorak, and Suva by 12pm on October 15, 2018.

A statement issued today by the Fijian Elections Office says independent candidates and political party candidates have until 12pm on October 15, 2018 to submit their nominations to the Fijian Elections Office in order to contest the 2018 General Election.

The Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem said “The Electoral Act contains very strict requirements regarding the submission of nomination forms before the deadline and therefore no nomination forms will be accepted by the FEO after the nomination period has ended.”

Nomination forms should be accompanied by a deposit of $1,000 for each party candidate and $1,000 for each independent candidate.

Independent candidates will also have to present a list of 1,000 supporters along with their nomination forms.

Nominations will not be accepted unless accompanied by this deposit.

If a candidate wishes to withdraw his or her nomination form, he or she can do so by providing a written notice to the Supervisor of Elections no later than 12 pm on the day following the close of nominations, October 16, 2018.
