VOTING began on time at the South Taveuni Secondary School polling station at 7.30am today.

While many lined up to cast their vote, one of the first voters at the station was 70-year-old Rama Wati who said she was very happy to cast her vote.

The Delaivuna resident said she had to vote early because she had also planned to sell sweets for other voters who were registered at the same polling station and earn some money.

Ms Wati said people who travelled a long way to vote at the school were buying her home-made sweets.
