ABOUT 200 military officers were unable to cast their vote during pre-poll yesterday. These soldiers were registered postal voters and they were supposed to cast their votes at Golan Heights.

The group had just returned from peacekeeping duties few weeks ago.

A number of them turned up at the Reverend Tuvasu Hall at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua to cast their vote, but they were advised that they would not be able to do so.

When questioned on whether these soldiers be given an opportunity to cast their vote, the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem,¬†said: “Those soldiers will be able to vote once the postal officer from Golan brings back the ballots.”
