2018 General Election: 15,000 expected to participate in pre-poll

MORE than 15,000 people are expected to cast their vote today as pre-poll begins in the four divisions around the country.

While at the launch of pre-poll at Nalidi Village in Ra, Electoral Commission chairperson Suresh Chandra reminded pre-poll voters that they were required to only vote in the pre-poll areas they have been assigned to.

Pre-poll is being conducted in 138 venues around the country, with 23 venues in the Central Division, 49 in the Eastern Division, 28 in the Northern Division and 38 in the Western Division.

“A total of 15,609 voters are expected to cast their vote on the first day of pre-poll,” Mr Chandra said.

“The ballots that will be cast there today will be transported to a central location for counting on election night.”
