A STRONG show from the West as Lautoka Nadroga/Navosa and Ra lead the medal count after day one of the 2018 FMF Chow Games at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Lautoka leads in both the men and women’s grade after day one.

Suva Athletics and Suva One are closing the gap gradually.

Media liaison Eugene Vollmer said the western school had shown a lot of promise on day one.

“The competition from the West is strong, with the Suva schools also in the mix and not out of contention yet,” Vollmer said.

“We expect a stronger competition at tomorrow’s finals.”

Lautoka lead the overall medal tally with eight gold medals, six silver medals and six bronze medals.

Nadroga/Navosa follows closely with five gold, eight silver and 10 bronze medals.

Ra currently sits in third overall with five gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
