DESPITE lack of resources, Lami Primary school is training and looking forward to a good outing at the 2018 Chow Games National Finals that will be held from November 16-17 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Lami Primary School is the only school that will be representing the Lami district.

Team head coach Isaia Nakadi said the team had been preparing for weeks like other districts and looked forward to representing the side.

“The athletes that we’ve chosen have been training for the past few weeks,” Nakadi said.

“It has been more than a month now that we’ve been preparing as a district and the students are looking forward to competition day.”

Despite the difficulties faced by the team during training, he said they were able to overcome this by the help from the local community.

“We are thankful that we have the support of the community, parents and teachers.

“The only problem we are facing is the lack of resources to use during training but we are blessed to have experienced teachers who have been training teams in the build-up to the national finals so their experience has helped in the training of our athletes,” said Nakadi.

The 2018 National chow games will feature two divisions – the Central and Western divisions.

The Northern Division will organise its own finals at Wairiki Secondary School in Taveuni.
