2018/19 Budget: “Sweet and sugary”, says SODELPA leader

THE 2018/2019 National Budget is “very sweet and sugary”, says Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka.
“This budget is coated with a lot of sugar but it’s irresponsible and lacks vision for the long-term,” Mr Rabuka said.
“It shows that the Bainimarama government does not care about the Fijian families as claimed by the Minister for Economy.”
He made these comments at a press conference this afternoon to express its views on the national budget.
The former prime minister said if the budget was to be carefully analysed, it would show that it did not into account global trends and key constraints and the unique vulnerabilities of the Fijian economy.
“We are a price-taker, producer of primary commodities, narrow-based economy, smallness, vulnerable position to international shocks and natural disasters.”
