ABOUT $90million has been allocated to build back better school facilities following Cyclones Winston, Gita, Josie and Keni.
In his National Budget address, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said they were also bringing a level of uniformity and meeting high standards in construction.
This included the design of schools in Fiji along with interior and exterior furnishings.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said this would be funded through a special grant for school renovation of $6.9m for Government and non-Government schools.
“The Ministry of Education will work with the Construction Implementation Unit to undertake a comprehensive stocktake of schools around the country based on school needs and applications made by the management,” he said.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the new system would weed out inefficiencies.
