A $2MILLION budget has been allocated by Government to fund Police operations during the conduct of the 2018 General Elections.

This was included in the Fiji Police Force’s total budget of $193.5m for the 2018/2019 financial year.

While the exact date of elections has not been made known, the Fiji Police Force says it has enough manpower in terms of security for the upcoming general elections.

In an earlier interview, ACP Tudravu said their officers had undergone elections training and were liaising closely with the Supervisor of Elections on what the next phases were.

He said the officers were using the elections handbook training manual designed specifically for them.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has also confirmed that they would be involving all its personnel during the 2018 general elections.

“The whole Police force will be involved and it’s a whole of police force approach to things, so you can expect to see all of us out there,” Brig-Gen Qiliho had said.

“People in the office will be moved out of the office to provide that secure conducive environment for people to freely go out and vote.”
