The Women in Business Awards has been described as an important event that recognises women leaders across various sectors and Vodafone Fiji has committed $20,000 towards the annual event.

A press release from Vodafone Fiji said the company had partnered with WIBA for the Senior Manager (Private Sector) Award category.

Vodafone Fiji’s chief commercial officer Ronald Prasad said the awards was a great opportunity to identify and celebrate the distinguished achievements and leadership demonstrated by women in various public and private sectors as reflected in their distinct innovations and initiatives.

Mr Prasad said this was also a great platform to create awareness and education around inclusion and diversity and he lauded the contribution of women leaders to advancing the organizations and the country’s economic development.

“We are honoured to be a part of this initiative that recognises and celebrates female excellence in the country.”

Mr Prasad said as the country’s leading telco, Vodafone was proud of its women leaders, adding that the company had a strong representation of women leaders at all levels of the organization.

Women in Business president Dr Nur Bano Ali said women needed to be celebrated and recognized for the lot they do and achieve in all areas of life.

According to Dr Ali women lead to bring about change, innovation and improvement and WIB celebrates women who challenge, motivate, and inspire, while recognising the cultural and structural barriers to women who lead.

“We are looking forward to another strong line-up of nominations for the WIB Awards this year.

“We acknowledge Vodafone’s sponsorship to contribute to the celebration of female leaders and outstanding achievers,” she said.
