163 graduate from APTC Fiji

A TOTAL of 163 students from the Australian Pacific Training Coalition in Fiji graduated with qualifications from 17 technical and vocation programs today.

These fields include air conditioning and refrigeration , applied fashion, carpentry and commercial cookery , construction along with other numerous other qualifications.

While officiating at the graduation ceremony held at the University of the South Pacific’s Gymnasium, Dr Nikhat Shameem Director of Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) said that 69 women graduating today also receive certificates in traditionally male trades in Fiji.

“You are breaking the glass ceiling for women and you must stand tall in your achievements,” she said.

She said more than 4,000 Fijian nationals have graduated from APTC since its establishment and out of these over 1,600 were women.

She also urged the graduates to put their internationally recognized qualifications into practice
