An additional $AUS10 million has been provided as part of a direct funding arrangement between the governments of Australia and Fiji for the Fiji Cyclone Recovery Programme.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said Cabinet approved an amendment to the Direct Funding Arrangement between those governments to facilitate the additional funding, which amounted to approximately $F15.40m.

“The additional funding of $AUS10m will increase total funding support for the programme to $AUS28.50m (equivalent to $F44.10m),” he said.

Mr Rabuka said the recovery programme included the rehabilitation of nine schools, namely; Lekutu Secondary School, Lekutu District School, Nukubulu Primary School, Maramarua District School, Dreketi District School, Bua District School, Dama District School, Wailevu West District School and Ratu Luke Memorial School.

This also includes two health facilities, the Taveuni and Kadavu Health centres.
