13 arrests in two days

FIJIAN Police made 13 drug-related arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday alone this week following a series of raids in the four divisions that resulted in seizures of dried leaves and white substances believed to be marijuana and methamphetamine, respectively.
In the Northern Division, a raid at two farmers’ home at Naqere in Savusavu on Tuesday saw Police confiscating more than 10 clear plastic allegedly containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine, and a container of bullets of dried leaves and seeds believed to be marijuana, and smoking apparatuses.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said both men have been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs each.
The duo is expected to appear before the Savusavu Magistrates Court today.
On the same day in the Eastern Division, a Police officer allegedly found 12 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana in the possession of a 35-year-old man from Wainibokasi.
The suspect remains in custody.
In the Western Division, a 44-year-old man is in custody at the Nadi Police Station after bullets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were seized from his Korovuto home following a raid on Tuesday morning.
On the same day, two men aged 44 and 22 years were arrested after a raid at a home in Delaitomuka by the Western Division Taskforce team.
Ms Naisoro said sachets of dried leaves and seeds all believed to be marijuana were discovered, including 16 sachets of white crystal powder believed to be methamphetamine.
She said both suspects remain in custody.
In Ba, a 40-year-old Moto farmer was taken into custody on Tuesday after he was allegedly found with 12 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
In the Southern Division, a 55-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman are in custody following a raid conducted at their Narere home yesterday.
Police seized smoking apparatus, assorted electronic goods and nine small clear plastic bags containing white substance believed to be methamphetamine.
In a separate raid at Narere in Nasinu yesterday, a 38-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were taken in custody following the discovery of more than $1000 cash, smoking apparatus and seeds believed to be marijuana.
And a joint operation between Fiji Police and Fiji Customs led to the discovery of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine wrapped in a plastic inside a car driven by a 59-year-old man from Nayawa in Sigatoka.
The suspect is in custody at the Navua Police Station.
The same joint team conducted another search inside a taxi driven by a 35-year-old farmer of Lawaqa in Sigatoka and found a small plastic of crystals also believed to be methamphetamine.
Drugs have been for sent for analysis.
