12,000 clients undergo employment skills training

Update: 1:06PM MORE than 12,000 clients of the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations have undergone training at the National Employment Centre ever since it was established in 2010.

This was highlighted by its line minister Jone Usamate while delivering his ministerial statement in Parliament yesterday, referring to clients as unemployed Fijians who registered with NEC.

“Clients are also provided with professional counselling and aptitude tests on their numeracy and literacy level,” Mr Usamate said.

He says clients also undergo Employment Skills Training, which is skills-based before they are placed in the services of their choice – Formal Employment Service, Foreign Employment Service or the Fiji Volunteer Service.

“My ministry is facilitating this training for these clients through Technical College of Fiji.”
