The confiscation of 10 kilograms of white substance believed to be methamphetamine with a street value of $12 million has been hailed by the Minister for Affairs Pio Tikoduadua.

The seizure was possible through a joint operation between the Fiji Police Narcotics Bureau, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) and New Zealand Customs.

Fiji Police said two men aged 36 and 42 years who are alleged to have been involved in the importation of illicit substances had been arrested as the seized substances were analysed.

“This is a significant bust in conjunction with many other authorities,” Mr Tikoduadua said.

“These are not simple processes, information is gathered, and they work with other agencies including Interpol.

“This is a significant milestone and hopefully it takes away what would have been on the street in terms of drug abuse on our children and those that consume the drugs.”
