Update: 12:37PM SINCE joining the Australia and New Zealand seasonal workers scheme in 2015, Fiji has sent 1060 workers so far.
This was told to Parliament by Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate in his ministerial statement yesterday.
Mr Usamate said out of that, 600 workers were deployed to New Zealand while the remaining 460 were deployed to Australia.
“One hundred and sixteen are female workers and 944 are male workers,” he said.
“The scheme in both countries and our recruitment is growing and we will continue to work on increasing the number of workers recruited from Fiji.”
Thirty-three employers are recruiting Fijians – 12 from Australia and 20 from New Zealand.
