An additional 10,000 doses of the Australian-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine arrived into the country last night.

According to the Australian High Commission in Fiji the doses arrived into Nadi to further assist the Fijian Government’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

“We know this is a difficult time for our Fijian vuvale who are battling the recent COVID-19 outbreak and we want you to know Australia stands ready to support in whatever way we can – these latest doses are part of this support,” the Commission stated on its official Facebook page – Australia in Fiji.

“With global access to these vaccines already constrained, this support will reach Fijians who need it most.

“These vaccines, which follow an initial 10,000 doses that arrived on May 6, were handled following advice from the Ministry of Health & Medical Services – Fiji to ensure all COVID restrictions were observed.”

The Commission thanks Fiji Airways for safely delivering the vaccines into Fiji.
