MORE than 1000 people in the Sugar City received free chiropractic treatment thanks to a team of visiting practitioners from around the world who are in the country this week.
South Pacific Chiropractic Clinic Abroad is made up of 45 medical specialists from Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand and the United States.
Nemani Delaibatiki, a former Fiji resident who now lives in California, said it was a dream come true to be able to give back to his homeland.
“The majority of our team is from the US and they either work in health centres or own their own practices — I am from Life Chiropractic College West in San Francisco,” he said.
“We have been coming to Fiji for a year and a half now and we raise our own funds to travel to Fiji to give free treatment for one week.”
The 40-year-old, who holds a doctorate in chiropracty, said the international team met in San Francisco last week before travelling to Fiji.
“We are in Lautoka today (yesterday), will be in Nadi tomorrow (today) and will spend Thursday and Friday in Suva.”
The Rewa native said chiropracty was a system of treating disease by manipulation of the vertebral column – and was not widely known in Fiji.
