POLICE have appealed to farmers in Macuata to work with them to address yaqona theft which has become the latest scourge in the province.

Speaking at the Seaqaqa district meeting in Lomaloma on Wednesday, police officer Jona Semo told the meeting participants that thieves have begun attacking farms in the Seaqaqa area.

Mr Jona said the problem was only common in Cakaudrove and Bua in the past.

“This is a show of desperation for opportunist thieves to make easy money out of people’s sweat,” he said.

“The onus is on us as farmers to ensure that our farms are secure.”
