Yaqona identified as a leading cause of stroke

Listen to this article:

FIJI’S youngest person to have suffered from a stroke is a 12 year old.

This was revealed by Counterstroke Fiji physiotherapist Lusiana Aca in an interview with The Fiji Times.

Mrs Aca believes the excessive consumption of yaqona could be one of the leading causes of stroke in the country.

“Snacking while drinking yaqona and alcohol can be one of the leading causes of stroke,” she said.

“Yaqona will make people lazy, not alert and they won’t wake up in time.”

She said Fiji needed to pay close attention to their unhealthy eating habits and move closer towards a more healthier lifestyle.
