THE inaugural Young Women Lead Initiative Workshop (YWLIW) aims to empower young women to take up leadership roles within the Fiji National University (FNU).

YWLIW was hosted by FNU in conjunction with Fiji Women Rights Movement (FWRM) and the Emerging Leaders Forum Alumni (ELFA).

The two day workshop was held at FNU’s Nasinu campus last week with 35 students from five colleges within the central
division.

FNU Assistant Registrar, Karishma Deo said they have noticed that young women often shy away from taking up leadership roles and hopes the workshop would inspire them to take up the challenge.

“This workshop enabled our young women to discover themselves, their rights and responsibilities and feel inspired, empowered and equipped to actively participate in University wide student activities and taking leadership roles in different student committees,” Ms Deo said.
