IT was sweet victory for the under-19 Ratu Kadavulevu School side as they crushed Lelean Memorial School in a 20-4 victory during the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition last week.
The Lelean side, who were last year’s defending champions couldn’t maintain another win this year as the RKS Eels proved stronger during the final with an easy win.
Laced with nine players from the school’s under-18 team that won the Fiji Secondary Schools Deans title last year, the Delainakaikai side outclassed the Lelean side to secure a win.
Former Deans rugby winners Wainiqolo, Peni Nanuku, Mosese Volavola, Apisai Senileba, Josese Batirerega, Sunia Tuikoro, Sevanaia Dakaica were instrumental for RKS and their combination was hard for Lelean to contain.
Head coach Jone Vosataki said the win was sweet because they lost to Lelean in last year’s final.
“First of all I want to thank God for being the power of strength for the team,” said Vosataki.
“It was a tough match and Lelean gave us a tough game but hats off to the boys for giving their all in their final.
“We lost in the final last year but we managed to win, and in just two years in the competition, we managed to win this trophy,” said Vosataki.
“It was a very tough game and I thank the boys for the effort and congratulations RKS for the victory today,” said Lelean manager Luke Tuivuya
“Majority of these players are under-18 and we will regroup for the next season.”
