IT is a cold and rainy Saturday in the capital city but there are number of events scheduled by the Government around the country.

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will officiate as chief guest at the launch of WiFi hot spot at 10.45am at Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa is expected to sign an agreement with Golden Age Trustees for the usage of a land that is owned by the Trustees to build the Lautoka shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence.

This will be held at 9am at the Punjas Company main office in Vitogo, Lautoka
Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Josefa Koroivueta is also expected to receive donation from Tranquil Textiles at 10am at the Golden Age Home in Natabua, Lautoka.

At 11am, Dr Koroivueta will be at the same venue but will be handing over clothings and children’s books to Treasure House and St Minas Home.

Minister for Waterways, Dr Mahendra Reddy will be chief guest at the annual pooja at the Sangam Mahamariamman Firewalking Temple at Vunivau, Labasa at 7.30pm.
