THE 3rd Amazing Wheelbarrow Race organised by the Frank Hilton Organization in Suva at the weekend was to help raise funds for children with disabilities and special needs.

Officiating as chief guest at the event, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Josefa Koroivueta, said the fundraising event would assist in improving the service delivery apart from funding through the Ministry of Education and the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

He said early detection and appropriate intervention would allow children with special needs to be given the right support for their development.

Dr Koroivueta acknowledged the support shown by corporate organisations and other stakeholders in helping government and non-governmental organisations in addressing social issues and establishing the fact that unity, partnerships and social responsibility assisted in a big way to address many social issues faced as a nation.
