NINE winners – women and girls – were announced as winners for the 2018 Westpac Women and Girls Education Grants by the bank.
The winners were picked from three categories – Primary school, high school/secondary college and tertiary.
“Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the women and girls who applied for a grant. Unfortunately we’re not able to offer a grant to everyone, as much as we’d like to – especially this year when the essays were of a very high standard, making it difficult for the judges to declare the winners,” said Brett Hooker, general manager, Westpac Fiji.
About the Grants
There were nine Grants available – three Grants for each of the three categories: primary school, high school/secondary college and tertiary student/adult worker wishing to return to study.
The successful grant recipients will receive funding to contribute towards their education costs. For primary school, the Grant is $400, for high school/secondary college, the grant is $1000 and for tertiary students/adult workers who wish to return to study, the Grant is $2150.
All local girls and women were encouraged to apply.
