Update: 5:27PM HEAVY rain has been falling across the Western Division the past hour.

In Ba, residents say the heavy downpour has resulted in the Ba River filling up almost to its bank.

With high tide expected at about 11pm, people are fearing the worst overnight.

Fiji Meteorological Service director Ravind Kumar has called for people living in low-lying and flood-prone areas in the Western Division to remain vigilant.

Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar has urged people to move to higher ground and not to be complacent.
