Weather knocks out north power supply

Update: 11:49AM PARTS of the Fiji Electricity Authority’s network in the North have been affected due to heavy rain and flooding causing power disruptions to homes.
A statement from the FEA’s chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said some 10 per cent of their customers in Labasa were without power supply.
Mr Patel said line inspection and repairs would be carried out as soon as water level receded to safe levels.
“The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) requests the members of the public that in the event you notice a broken or low sagging power lines, please immediately call our emergency number 913 and report the hazard,” he said.
“For flood prone areas, we request the residents to also call FEA on 913 on rising water levels that compromises power line clearance. “
“Please stay away from FEA power lines.”
